Map of the Dutch dialect areas
The van Ginneken map gives an overview and classification of the
dialects spoken in:
- the actual Netherlands,
- Northern Belgium (nowadays called "Vlaanderen", this area
roughly coincides with the core parts of the old County of Flanders, the
old Duchy of Brabant and the old County of Loon).
- and in a small part of France (the "Westhoek" or "Flandre
Maritime" in the actual "Département du Nord")
